Martha,
To derive county names from an address, you're going to have to buy some third-party software.
If the number of mailing addresses whose counties you need is small, you can go to the United States Postal Service Web site and type in an address. It will return both the ZIP code and county to you, but you can only process one address at a time. It looks like the USPS does have a programmatic solution, but it, too, requires a licensing fee. If you're interested, see the text at the bottom of the page I've linked, where it says
