Hello
This is my third posting on this forum the problem i have P4 machine 512 Ram running Windows professional 2000 service pack 4 . I tried installing version 8.1.7 8i EE on this machine but it didn't run. I copied the entire cd contents to a temp directory renamed all symcjit.dll files o symcjit.old and changed the jre parameter in the oraparam.ini file as per Mr .Mahesh instructions. the setup ran and database creation successful but after the installation i keep getting this java.exe Error. i posted my problem here again and got a patch number to download but the problem iz i do not have a oracle metlink membership Can Anyone help me out with the problem or lemme know where i can get the patch from ? ? ? Any help wud be greatly appreciated Thank you

wat versions of oracle are u talking about?

I'm Lookin For Patch Number 1507768 From Metalink.
This Iz The Patch For SymantecJIT Compiler Bug With The Pentium IV Processor . I m Tryin' To Install Oracle 8i E.E (Enterprise Edition) On Win 2k Machine Service Pack 4 .

unforutunately, you can donwload specfic patchsets from metalink only.
the link in my previous postings will give highest patch for the release.
so you can donwload and isntall patch for 8.1.7.4 , which should be all set.
but i beleive, SymantecJIT Compiler  is not all an issue, though it is a bug. as long as u can install database it is all set.
so just install the highest patchset say 8.1.7.4 fro the link.

Hi,
I installed the oracle 8.1.7 on win 2k and the patch as well from the link you provided me but i still get java.exe has caused an error and must be shutdown.Later if i try to connect to oracle i get
ORA-01034:Oracle Not Available
ORA-27101:Shared Memory Realm Does Not Exist
Oracle.exe,Apache.exe,tnslsnr.exe are running in the background.
I really do not understand what to do.Any help wud be Appreciated Mahesh Thank'z

you installed oracle. Okie.
did create a database?
did u start the database?
try starting the database manually
using svrmgrl
c:svrmgrl
svrmgrl>connect internal
svrmgrl>startup open
