can u explain a little bit more, may be with an example."list all fields" and "in one table" at the same time, is quite confusing

For example: there is one table named "project".
How to use JDBC to list its structure?
I tried to use: desc project.
It can only work in SQL environment. But in JDBC
I always get "invalid SQL statement".
