What is the exact meaning of mounting the database?

No Mount stage - Initfile is read ,background processes are created and SGA gets initialized
Mount stage - The controlfile is read and the database is identified.Only dba is able to access the database and is not open for users
Open Stage - The datafiles are locked by the instance and the database is made accessible to the users.
