Question

I would like to know when you truncate a table, do you need to drop and recreate the index, and if the associated MDSYS tables need to be cleaned.

Reason

I have a tool that inserts a spatial point into a feature. When I moved from the test environment to the live environment I trucated the feature to remove the test data and dropped and recreated the sequence. I then restested and all worked fine.

I then had to restart the server and I now get the error Ora-03113: End of file on communication channel.

I have narrowed this down to where the tool is trying to insert the new ID number and suspect that the feature is out of sink with the index/sequence/mdsys.
