For example, when I am using one form refering to TABLE A, I would also update a column in TABLE B if all inputs are valid, I know I can use UPDATE....this statement to execute the update process, but my professor just said it woudl be better if I can avoid using UPDATE/INSERT these SQL statements, since Oracle Form has build-in functions for that, is it true??

Besides, can we create a form which is used to generate Oracle reports??

ur professor is telling u right.
yes u can create a form to gengerate oracle reports. for this u need reports builder/compiler/runtime installed on ur system.u can design attractive reports there and these reports can be called from forms. for any more assistance do mail me. i can clarify ur concepts more clearly.
