Hi,

usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>./dbca
DISPLAY not set.
Set DISPLAY environment variable, then re-run.
usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>echo $ORACLE_SID
CCE
usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>echo $ORACLE_HOME
/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0
usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>echo $ORACLE_PATH
ksh: ORACLE_PATH: parameter not set
usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>echo $DISPLAY
ksh: DISPLAY: parameter not set
usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product

How to set it ?

Regards,
Srikanth

Similar nature of regular posts, not realizing and replying to a post with different handles, system IP address etc. are the usual source to find it out. Perhaps Michel would tell you more about it.

To be precise about that post having Srikanth posting on behalf of Mathew, this is the one in that thread, http://www.orafaq.com/forum/mv/msg/193132/616143/#msg_616143

Now that the water has spilled over the brim, I don't care about his current handle that he use in disguise of other ones and gets confused himself. Does he or do we really care? OP seems not to care though. We are here only to post whats acceptable to OP/Balaji/Ajit/Jack/Mohan/Mathew/Suhas/Srini/william/Srikanth/whatever...

It is your opinion.
I'm not here to post what is acceptable to OP, I owe him nothing.
You say he does not care, didn't you read his post "this is unacceptable", this is unacceptable we answer using his other names and reveal what he does, this is the only thing that he is unacceptable for him.

Good luck if you want to help him, we'll see how much time you will resist, for the moment you didn't answer to this topic. Smile
Note that just BlackSwan and I are answering his questions, maybe the clue of something.
Now me, I just want he tells us why he has so many accounts and names.

Michel, I am afraid you got me wrong. I echoed you and explained to OP that even we don't care if he doesn't. May be I explained too much that you got confused whether I am pointing to you or OP Sad

Regarding helping OP/Balaji/Ajit/Jack/Mohan/Mathew/Suhas/Srini/william/Srikanth/whatever, I will certainly and ONLY help if it is acceptable to ME and the FORUM Smile

Having several accounts and telling in each one you are the other, isn't this playing double game?
You are as dumb in lying as you are in Oracle.
You should stop both.

I sent a PM to "Suhasdba", but you are " Srikanth" Laughing So you agree now. First you said you don't know them, and we are blaming you.

And there was nothing wrong in that PM, I suggested suhasdba(if that's you) not to leave the forum because someone responded rudely. And not to PM me to ask questions, forum is meant for that. Please go ahead, I don't have issues.

Yes, no one is interested in OP's question which is not related to Oracle and had nevertheless been answered by BlackSwan.

Power off your server and keep far away from it and any keyboard.

if you can not read & understand what is written in the Oracle manuals, then I can only assume that you would not understand what is written here.

Read the TOC of all of them (and the other ones) you should be able to find the appropriate one.
Otherwise, find something else to do.

... After a tiny thought... find something else to do.

You are beyond help.
You post at very top of this thread "SunOS 5.10", so why do you now ask about which LINUX manual you should read?
If you don't know which OS runs your database server, then we don't know what OS actually exists for you.

in thread title you posted "Oracle 11.2.0.4.1"
but first thread content shows "usircd01:KAM:/opt/oracle10/product/10.2.0/bin>./dbca"

which indicates you are trying to install V10 database.

Why do you have such a difficult time clearly stating what you have?
Do you realize & understand that V10 Oracle is obsoleted & unsupported now?

Which Oracle software version are you trying to install on which OS name & version?
We only know what you have based upon what you post here.

These "details" matter.

Ok.Here are the answers for your question.

Oracle version is 11.2.0.2.0
OS version is SunOS 5.10

Quote:
/opt/oracle11> cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
cdisr:ORCL:
/opt/oracle11/product/11.2.0/bin>
cdisr:ORCL:
/opt/oracle11/product/11.2.0/bin> ./dbca
DISPLAY not set.
Set DISPLAY environment variable, then re-run.
cdisr:ORCL:
/opt/oracle11/product/11.2.0/bin>

Naming a directory 11.2.0 or oracle11 does not mean Oracle version is 11.2.0...
And given your level, there is a not negligible probability this is not the case.

dbca use X-Windows to present details to the invoker.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-windows
the DISPLAY environmental variable is used by X-Windows to know/decide to where the pixels should be drawn.
X-Windows must be properly configured in order for dbca to have a chance to succeed.
a quick way to test for proper X-Windows is to invoke xclock
man xclock
if xclock fails, then X-windows is mis-configured & you should not even try to invoke dbca until after xclock run successfully.

Is X-windows is a software to be installed in our machine something like (Xmanager 4.0 Build 0152)
Should i download and install 'Xmanager 4.0 Build 0152' on my machine and then set on the server DISPLAY to your client IP address
and then execute dbca on the server ?

From where to invoke this xclock ? as a root user or oracle user and would want to know the path as well?
Should this be tested after installing Xmanager 4.0 Build 0152 ?

Can you clarify all these?

These are NOT Oracle questions.
Find a more appropriate forum for them.
