how to create a function or query to get the data as follows
first column has 1.columndesc
second column should start with 1.1(col text)
third col should start with 1.1.1(col text)

text will be entered manually but the numbering should automatically populate in the apex text box.
please advise.
thanks very much.

When, how & why will 1.1.1 turn into 2, or 2.1, or 3.2.5, or ...?
