Because oracle haven't made forms compatible with other browsers.
You need to take this up with them.

You need to work on your formsweb.cfg. There are settings that specify whether to use the Jinit, or JPI. I chose to do away with using the oracle Java Initiator, because if i remember correctly it has limited support for other browsers.

You will need to read the documentation on this. After you have (if you are using forms 10g r2):
jpi_classid=clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93

This string will allow you to use any java installed (not 7 as it's not supported for forms 10g)

I don`t know wich version you are using, but Forms 11g have certification for IE, Safari, Firefox and Chrome.
You should read the certification matrix for the version you are using.

As far as I know, Forms 11g is part of Fusion Middleware so you'll need to download and install that software product. That's - more or less - all I can say about it as I never installed it (so far, that is) so, for more information, wait some more or have a look at the documentation (installation guide, that is).

I use Firefox 16 with JRE 1.7 to display Forms 10.1.2.3, as shipped with EBS 12.1.3.
Have you checked the certifications on MOS?

Hi,
If you dont want to worry about Browser compatibility you can always run Oracle Forms Native with Forms EXEJar

It basically creates one executable (jar or exe, cant remember exactly), which runs Oracle Forms "out of the box" with whatever Java version is installed (no need for jinitiator, even if the original setup requires it).

I think it just downloads all Jar files from the application server and bundles them up to one plain executable jar file.

Just google for Forms EXEJar (dont have the link handy), company was TalkingByte i believe. The trial version worked fine for me, no need to buy the full version

Let me know how you go

(EDIT: There you go, screenshot attached. website was www.talkingbyte.com jsut click on "Products")
