dB can't produce archived log files [message #480790]

I'm wondering how our new production dB doesn't produce any archived log files since it was launch last August of this year. I can't see any of the said files specified at the /u1archive directory of the server.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

It seems that your database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode. Is it?

...or maybe the archived log destination is not "/u1archive".

Thanks for this.

I tried selecting the v$archived_log and it shows "no rows selected". The init.ora file has no referenced for the NOARCHIVELOG MODE (whether TRUE or FALSE), but it had a log_dest_archive path and a log_archived_files format.

So nothing has been generated in the database as this view is filled whatever is the archive log mode.

This is not an instance property but a database one and so is not in the (instance) configuration file.
See v$database.
