Dear All,

i am looking for an opinion and suggestion about using save points in oracle PLSQL code

we are working on a large application and there are few thousand objects in our database.
we mostly use functions / procedure and packages for our transaction.
in many areas to complete a process we go through many transaction and may call more than 10 procedures.
now we want to use SAVE-POINT in our procedures and packages to let the calling body decide about the transaction if some chunk of code has failed or raised some exception. we will roll back to a save point and decide what to do next.

Now i need to know that is it a good idea or not.

what kind of problem we can face. its a bigger application and thousands of transaction are to be done daily.

Need your expert opinion in this regard,

Ahmad Saeed

Using save points inside a procedure to rollback the work by this one in case of exception detection is a good idea.

Why do you repeat the same question 1.5 hour after the first one?
It is useless, duplicates are deleted more it is counter-productive as it irritates readers.

Thanks

No effect unless you use thousand savepoints in a transaction.
