Hi Everyone,

I am facing an issue while executing following statement.

CREATE OR REPLACE
TYPE type2
AUTHID CURRENT_USER
UNDER type1
(
defid INTEGER
, OVERRIDING MEMBER FUNCTION apply( SELF IN OUT NOCOPY type2 ) RETURN BOOLEAN
)
NOT FINAL;
/

The cursor waits for some time and then shows a message:

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Here type2 does not have any subtype and it is dependent on type1. All the objects are valid except the type 'type2'.

The 'type2' has a valid type body as well. How can this type2 be re-compiled?

Thanks in advance,
Kaushik

ORA-00600/ORA-07445/ORA-03113 = Oracle bug => search on Metalink and/or call Oracle support

Quote:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Cause: The connection between Client and Server process was broken.

Action: There was a communication error that requires further investigation. First, check for network problems and review the SQL*Net setup. Also, look in the alert.log file for any errors. Finally, test to see whether the server process is dead and whether a trace file was generated at failure time

I disagree with Oracle "Action".
I'd say "First search for a trace file in udump and report to support" as the first "Cause" of this error is an Oracle bug.

Hi Sriram,

Thanks for your reply. I think it is not related to connection issues since this command is always failing and giving same message. But all other commands are working fine.

If the code is executed from sql plus or plsql developer then the said error is showing.

If it is executed from TOAD, it is showing the following message.

(S2510) Expecting: AS IS TIMESTAMP

Thanks,
Kaushik

Of course this is not what you want to hear but this is the reality.
If you post your version with 4 decimals and a full test case we can reproduce maybe we can say you if it is fixed in another version.

Michel
