Hi,

We have two window server, live-server and temp_backup-server. temp server will be used if the live server is down due to hardware failure or oracle database is down.

Oracle backup is taken twice a day and stored on both internal and external devices.

How can i restore the database with minimum data lose? Which files i need from latest backup to copy on temp server and to restore the database?

I need to perform it without RMAN.

Thanks

If backup is made with RMAN, you can't.
If backup is not made with RMAN, it depends on how you made the backups and if you are in ARCHIVEDLOG or NOARCHIVEDLOG mode and so on.

Database is in Archive-log mode.

We take backup through running scripts and instance has already been setup on the temporary server.
