hi are you having any idea how to write this particluar thing in sql server 2005?if so please help me out in this.

EXCEPTION
WHEN TOO_MANY_ROWS THEN
BEGIN
SELECT ---------
END;

how to handle this in sql server 2005?

Maybe you should post this question in a SQL Server forum, there is a better chance you'd find someone speaking SQL Server language.

Although, since I also do some SQL Server stuff, I can tell you that the one of the most annoying things about SQL Server is that there IS NO FREAKING EXCEPTION HANDLING!!!!

OK, they implemented some "sort" of exception handling syntax in 2005, but that can ONLY be used in scripts, NOT in stored procedures / functions, where you usually miss it the most.
