Hi!
When I try to kill an oracle session as follows:

SQL> ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION 'sid,serial#';

With the SID and SERIAL# values of the relevant session substitued. But, I am getting the following error:

ORA-00029: session is not a user session

When searched Net, it was just mentioned to use a correct user session. But, I need to kill this since, when I execute a store procedure, I am getting end-of-file communication error and getting disconnected from Oracle. This stored procedure inserts records into emp table. And these sessions, I am thinking that these sessions are created due to one asp.net application that I have run (probably the code is handling closing of open connections). Also, I have checked that there is no background process running.

Plesae, note that if I run any other stored procedure which does not deal with emp table, I am not getting problem of end-of-file communication error .

Can any one help me if there is any way to kill those sessions.

Thanks,
Moksha

ORA-00029: session is not a user session
 *Cause: The session ID specified in an ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION command
          was not a user session (for example, recursive, etc.).
 *Action: Retry with a user session ID.

Michel
