Hi i am trying to login to my database using sqlplus or toad and it gives me a message ORA-12660: Encryption or crypto-checksumthois still it gives me the same errorming parameters incompatible.
Solution:
Change the "REQUIRED" side to "REQUESTED" if the you want encryption or crypto-checksumming to be optional, or change the "REJECTED" side to "ACCEPTED" if you do not want the service to be optional.

I tried this still it gives me the same error.
The database is on a windows platform and its 9.2.0.6.
Can somebody help?

Most likely not, because most folks don't use encryption between client & DB.

When did this last work?
What changed?

There has been an encryption from the very beginning. It has been working but yesterday it stopped showing this message. Now can it be a firewall problem??

It might be firewall.
It might be something else.
Has it stopped working for all remote clients?
Are you the only 1 impacted?
What/who continues to work from where?
Who/where is also seeing same failure?

The client is 9.2.0.6 version. I tried login through one machine it failed. It also failed in another machine. You can say that it has stoppe working for all remote clients.

Unfortunately, beyond the error code you have not provided any actionable information.
It appears to me that something has changed.
I suspect that in the near future as the real scope of the problem is more completely understood,
additional internal resources will be devoted to finding & fixing the root cause.

Good Luck

Checked if there is a mismatch between the parameters SQLNET.CRYPTO_CHECKSUM_SERVER and SQLNET.CRYPTO_CHECKSUM_CLIENT. The client parameter is set to requested and the server is set to accepted.

FYI -
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A95136_01/ch05.htm

Please post the last 30 - 40 lines from listener.log from DB server.

Just as a test, can you eliminate encryption to see if connection will succeed?
