Hi

I am refreshing a test db using backup from prod via RMAN.The refresh is done using daily backup pieces and archivelogs. As its the last day of the month,we also have a another backup to tape of db job running. Will this job affect the refresh which will also be running at the same time.

Affect how?
I suppose you refresh with files from disk and the separate new process is direct backup to tape?
Depends on the hardware resources.

Theoretically, you might encounter this if there is more than one job backing up the control file at the same time.
In your case, you are duplicating from disk and backing up to tapes.
