Using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition but not using dataguard and redos transferred to secondary the old method with script.
For a Failover to Secondary do i have to follow any other steps than mentioned below.
*Shutdown primary
*Copy last archive log to secondary and apply them on secondary.
*On Secondary run
ALTER DATABASE COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO PRIMARY;
*Shutdown Secondary and bring it back with STARTUP.

It's hard to comment without more details on what you mean by "the old method".

I mean the method used in version of 8i not using dataguard with transfer of archived logs from primary to secondary.
