calling shell scripts form oracle [message #420139] Thu, 27 August 2009 04:09 Go to next message

I was executing shell script from oracle. The shell script connects to a database and writes it on a file. It then compresses the file using gzip.
It works fine for small tables. But for large tables, the shell script writes to a file for certain time and then exits. So the file doesn't contain all the data from the table. What could be the problem.
However when i execute the shell script from ssh window it performs all the tasks completly. But why doesn't it complete the same task when called from oracle procedure?
Please Help Confused

Based on the information provided - not a clue.

Does the shell script return an error code?
Are there any trace files produced?
How are you calling the shell script?
Are there always the same number of rows output before the script ends?
What version of Oracle are you using?
What OS are you using?
what are the contents of the shell script?
