One of the tables in the prod database had some app related config issue and started gobbling up space like a hungry T-Rex!

The app support team have finally identified the issue and the abnormal growth has ended. Now the task that I have to accomplish is to reclaim the space that has been allocated to the tablespace so that it can be used properly for the future growth of the database.

Can you please advice on the best approach to resolve the issue. The one that I can think about is,
1. Ask for downtime,
2. Export the tables in the tablespace.
3. Truncate all the tables (so that HWM is reset)
4. Import the tables back in to the tablespace.

Is there any other way in 10g that will let me do this with little or no downtime?

TIA
KV

Thank you for the tips.

Cheers!

And Michel, sorry if this ended up under the incorrect heading. Must have just clicked on "New Topic" while I was reviewing some RAC related stuff.

Thank you for the tip again.
