Better yet: post it in the sql-developer chapter of the Oracle Technet forums.
I know that this forum is for questions about client tools too, but I always considered it to be for more general questions.
Let's face it: if your brand new Ferrari F50 has a warning light flashing every time you cross the 250 km/h limit, would you rather ask a question about it on a general car forum or on a Ferrari F50 forum?

unable to find main class

class specified is :oracle/idle/boot/launcher

This is the error i am getting when i try
to run sql developer

It can't find the main class.

Perhaps a problem with the Java installation. Perhaps a problem with the SQL Develpoper installation. Perhaps a problem with the user profile. Perhaps a problem with environment variables.

No way to tell, since you didn't post any information that would narrow down the problem. Not even the Version and the OS.
