I want to do the below automation in Oracle:
1) Create an external table (two fields currency_code,value)
2) Update the value in a table ABC ( two fields currency_code,value) based on the values in the external table.

The user interface needs to be created so that a file placed in oracle directory gets loaded into the
external table. This contains the changes to the forex rates to be made to the table ABC.

Based on the data in the external table, table ABC needs to be updated with the latest FOREX rates.

a) How to create an external table
b) update table ABC based on external table values?

Then proceed to do so. When you get stuck (after having made an honest attempt) post back with your issues. (Provide as much info as is pertinent. See posting guidelines on how to get a fast answer to your questions.

{edit: can't spell )

Also, "put it in script for automation" is either completely OS specific (Crontab or Planned Tasks) or Oracle version specific (dmbs_job, dbms_scheduler), and you didn't tell us either.
