Hello,

i want to read the columns of an xls file, and a dbf file.

is this possible with plsql?

kindly help.

Maybe you can find a procedure for this on the Web but I don't any that does it and I doubt anyone publish such a useless stuff.
Save your file in csv format.

What is a dbf file?

You can use Oracle Heterogeneous Services for just this thing - it will allow you to select from each page of the spreadsheet as though it were a table viewed across a database link.

There's a good guide on how to set it up to work with Access here. All you need to do to change it is to make the ODBC connection point to the Excel spreadsheet rather than to an Access database
