Hi All,

I hve created directory in table dba_directories to read a file.The directory refer to the path in server folder.Is it possible to read a file in shared folder.
(Eg:'\\153.25.6.25\shared\')

No, Oracle does not support UNC.

As far as I know it is not supported by Oracle on Windows.

To get this to work on Windows, you need to have the database and listener running under a network login, rather than a local machine login.

Once you've got that set up, you should be able to refer to UNC file locations on the local network

Is it supported to install with a network account? Last time I checked (a couple of years ago), only local account was allowed.

You know - that never occurred to us. (that's the honest answer, not sarcasm). It worked, so we did it.

Checking on Metalink, there are documents like 453689.1 that tell you how to run your DB instance under a domain account while using ASM, so I'm pretty certain it's ok.
