I have encoutered a problem while installing oracle 10g xe on RHEL 5. According to official documents, Oracle for linux does NOT support RHEL 5 OS ,It only supports RHEL3 and RHEL 4.bug on on other hand,I looked for lots of articles from internet which indicate that oracle xe CAN be installed in RHEL5. my problem is as below:

The database seems to go up fine, but the http server doesnt wanna play... meaning, when I access http://localhost:8080/apex, it gives me an HTTP 404 (file not found) error.

The Oracle log file (/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/log/server1/client/css.log) show this error:

Oracle Database 10g CRS Release Production Copyright 1996, 2005 Oracle. All rights reserved.

When I use "netstat -tnl" command, notice that 1521 port appears, but 8080 port dose not.

Does anyone know how to deal with the problem or have encountered the same problem?

Thank you very much for the time spent.

Best Regards,
