i have 2 qns

1)what kind of index we can have in a date field.
2)i have a index on ID filed of OUTPUT do i need one for the ID filed in status table as well

select count(1), from OUTPUT where ID in 
(SELECT ID 
FROM status 
where _DATE > ADD_MONTHS(SYSDATE,-1))
