developed nations only will have right concern since under and un developed nations has got their own problems like tamil elam, terrorism, poverty and many. When mind is not at peace one can not understand what is somalia , where is somalia, what is happening there, gravity of the situations, and what to do. So long right visualization of the problem does not prevail due to lack of communication and many other reasons, nations concern on somalia is a million dollar question.

OK, I have no idea what the mad professor said there, but I reckon that those concerned absolutely must be brought to book. Either the companies running the tankers etc start spending to ensure their staff's safety (private security) or Governments get involved on a military level. There is no effective government in Somalia and no sign of one emerging. Political resolution is not an option. These Pirates must be stopped by force.

[Edit: and my mind doesn't need to be at peace to understand where and what Somalia is]

Maybe I have been working too hard lately (so maybe I missed an important news item), but what has changed recently in Somalia, except for the fact maybe that now a US ship/captain was hijacked?

Well, he's now been rescued Smile Other than that, not a lot as far as I know.

OK,

[Edit: and my mind doesn't need to be at peace to understand where and what Somalia is]

pablolee need not get perturbed. There was a survey among male / female as who is the best decision taker. My wife wrote, matters pertaining to important topics like US Economy, Iran war, Somalia perinial threat, Tamil tigers, Afgan terrarism etc will be taken by my husband, whereas silly decision like how much my husband need to spend and at where and to whom he should talk and what to talk will be decided by me. As she had written, i gave my decision. That's all. Now, I understand and wish, i must born at scotland on my next birth.

I honestly cannot see what this has to do with BlackSwan's question, nor anything else in the thread up to this point.

wherever there is a community hangout forum, replies / comments need not be a straight one like bullet shot as was expected on pure tech queries. I thought, i am communicating the people's / nations's view in a humourous way. May be due to regional conflict culture, my comments are misunderstood. As you have said, i have not answered for BlackSwan querry at point blank. Any way let me stop and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Methinks the regional powers and aspiring superpowers in region should take care of this.

With due respect,
are you representing the whole nation?
Please do not bring sensitive issues like Tamil Elam to OraFaq.
It will not get you / us anywhere except to fill this board with
useless garbage messages.

Justice must prevail.
But whose justice?
and who should administer the justice?
Who can & will stand up for good over evil?

Sounds like a trailer for a movie Very Happy I do however agree with you. Something must be done, but by whom and to what 'book' should the pirates be brought? I would guess that there is likely some sort of international law that governs such things, and that some form of alliance (either currently existing such as NATO or to be convened for this purpose) will be involved in meteing out that justice. (I believe the French are already in on the act)

If there was 'justice' in the world people wouldn't have to risk their lives on the high seas and resort to violence to make a living.

Perhaps the law of the sea needs to be changed so that vessels can be stopped and inspected when on the 'high seas', that is, when outside of territorial waters. But you could imagine how well a USA vessel would react to a North Korean or Iranian vessel that wanted to 'make sure that their USA registered vessel wasn't being used as a mothership'.
