Hello,

I know that I'm abusing but I have yet another question. It relates to a master-detail block setup that I have used in a quite peculiar way and for which I have some trouble. Both master and detail blocks are based on the same table. My master block is a read-only grid for which navigating through enables users to edit and delete single records on the detail block which is fully editable. I have done it this way because some fields are very large and so I use the detail block fields splitted over the canvas on several lines (which would not have been possible on a multi-line block). My problem is that I wish to have the changes made on a record in the detail block to synch with it's master block counterpart as I move between records on the latter. It's only an issue for users since they don't see their mods until they do a 'save' which commits the form and requery the values of the master block. I have linked master and detail via a condition and not a ref relation. Has anyone of you implemented such a form and is it even worth trying to work out?

regards,
Didier

have u tried using a stacked canvas ? it's like an internal frame with its own vertical and horizontal scrollbars, and u can expand the internal frame as wide as u want, so your all fields will be adjusted.

Hello and thanks for the suggestion. In fact I'm open to this idea and I even proposed it for the purpose of that project but unfortunately the design standards I'm supposed to abide by don't see it this way. They are kind'a touchy on canvas width and widgets used. In fact the tabbed canvas would be great..but well.

thanks anyway.

regards,
Didier

You can have multiple lines for a record and have multiple records on a canvas based on a single block. Just make the spacing between rows at the block level bigger.
