Hi,

At my dev server there are 5 instances are running.
Now I want to create password file for each instance.
How oracle instances knows which password files created for that instance only.

For example:

If there are two instances are running

a) TST1
b) TST2

And there are two password files orapwTST1 and orapwTST2, how the instances knows that orapwTST1 is for TST1 instance and orapwTST2 is for TST2 instance.

Please help.

Hi,

Thanx for your comments.
My confusion is , if I change the password file name orapwTEST1, still the TST1 is able to use this file ?

First of all try to understand what is password file.

1/ delete/remove all password files

2/ creat new password files as per your requirement.

Pokhraj

No.
An instance knows its password file from its own name.
