Hi All,
I want to get underlying Database server OS/Platform details. Can you help me in getting that using sqlplus command. Remember it connects to the db using tnsnames and then runs some query on the server to get the server's platform (not client platform)

Thanks Mahesh, i was wondering if i can get the DB version (like 10g, 11g) in the same manner (from some system table)?

By the following command.

SQL> SELECT * FROM v$version

BANNER                                                          
----------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production                          
CORE	10.2.0.4.0	Production
