Just looking for ideas or advice...

We have 2 Oracle database servers (2 physical locations) that we are trying to find an efficient (and secure) way to share some data. The remote location is a "friend" location, so we don't have complete access and "say" in their configs...

The data consists of Images stored as Long Raws, averaging about 13KB per record. We figure the updates to the remote server would be scheduled for several times a day, or perhaps even once an hour, for batch updates...probably only a couple dozen records (max) at any one time. We would like to push the data out to the remote location, but I'm not sure what capabilities PL/SQL or htp-wise Oracle has for data-serialization+streaming.

Any ideas and options are welcome...

DB links would be the first thing to consider, but I don't think long rwas are supported. You could try converting to varchar and then back to long raw on the other side, or maybe consider ftp or http post.

You could set up DataGuard, and have a read-only copy of the database at the remote site, updated by the redo logs from the primary database.
