I have a issue regarding data fetchning Using DBLINK across Sybase
SELECT x. columns from oracle
and y. columns from sybase
FROM oracle tables and joins
and a join on Sybase View with a DBLINK
WHERE condition

1.It takes like 5 minutes for the first time.
2.second time it takes few mili seconds (i guess it caches data)
3.View have some million of rows.

Is there a way around that i can reduce the time.
view is dynamic so is the query.

Thanks in Advance

So where is the time being spent?
SQL_TRACE & TKPROF may provide clues

sorry about two post-it was a browser issue-as form didnot clear for long after pressing post button.

the time is being spent on the view(which have app 12 million rows) so it fetches all rows for the first time.

Last time I checked the Laws of Physics still are enforced.
If 12 million rows are being returned across Network connection
& you want to reduce the elapsed time, then a faster network link is the only solution IMO.
