Did you check the right TNSNAMES.ORA? If there are more than one Oracle products installed on a client PC, there are more than one TNSNAMES.ORA files (by default, unless you chose to use TNS_ADMIN environment variable, but I'd say you did not. Not yet, that is).

Dear Sir..

Thanx for the reply.I have one server and many local machines using the same tnsnames.ora.Let me tell that I have only one oracle product installed into my local machine.I am able to connect the database through another local machine but through this machine I am not able to connect. Also I checked the sqlnet.ora there is no issues?.What could be the issue of not getting connected through our local machine

Regards

Try using tnsping from both client machines, check for differences.

If you see differences, either correct whats wrong, or copy the tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora from the machine that is working to the one that isnt.
