Hi,

I have installed oracle 10g in windows xp home edition. After the intallation, i was able to login the database. Once I restarted the machine, i am getting the following error.

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect

Following is my tns entry

TKYTE =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = TKYTE)

Please anyone help me to sortout the problem.

What is the service_names of your instance?
Never use "localhost" in HOST parameter, use a real hostname.

Please issue the follwoing command from sqlplus:

SQL> ALTER SYSTEM REGISTER;


and check if the listener know knows about the database (please post the output):

lsnrctl service
