Hi Friends,

I created a package karthik but got an error.

create or replace package karthik as
procedure karthikperumal(a number);
end;
create or replace package body karthik as
procedure karthikperumal(a varchar) is
begin
dbms_output.put_line('Hi!'|| a ||' This is my package...');
end;
end karthik;
/
show errors;

The error shown is listed below:

Warning: Package created with compilation errors.
Errors for PACKAGE KARTHIK:
LINE/COL ERROR
4/1 PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "CREATE"

I am using Oracle 9i version. Please help.You can reply at kperumal75@gmail.com.

Thanks micheal,but getting new error with same code with the slah you mentioned:

Package created.
Warning: Package Body created with compilation errors.
Errors for PACKAGE BODY KARTHIK:

LINE/COL ERROR
2/11 PLS-00323: subprogram or cursor 'KARTHIKPERUMAL' is declared in a package specification and must be defined in the package body

It seems the message is clear, you didn't give the code in body for a procedure you declared in specification.
Check the type of your parameters.

Please read OraFAQ Forum Guide, especially "How to format your post?" section.
Make sure that lines of code do not exceed 80 characters when you format.
Indent the code (See SQL Formatter), use code tags.
Use the "Preview Message" button to verify.

Use SQL*Plus and copy and paste your session.
