Please Explain this function......

select to_char(to_date(54673,'SSSSS'),'SSSSSSP') from dual;

Sir,
What is 'SSSSS' and 'SSSSSSP' function. Can I give
10 length number in place of above given number
(54673).If it is so then give me the entire sql.
