Hello,

I've been trying for 5 hours to find solution for running an external proc call so I do not get :

ORA-28575: unable to open RPC connection to external procedure agent...

the code is simple , just wanted to try ORDCOM package :

declare
word binary_integer;
hr binary_integer;
dummy binary_integer;
documents binary_integer;
document binary_integer;
begin
hr := ORDCOM.CreateObject (
'Word.Application',
0, -- reserved
'', -- remote dcom server
word
);

if hr <> 0 then
dbms_output.put_line('Could not create Word object');
return;
end if;

hr:= ordcom.DestroyObject (word);
if hr <> 0 then
dbms_output.put_line('Could not set Visibile property');
return;
end if;
end;

-------------------------------

my listener.ora :

LISTENER1 =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = marjan)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
)
)

STARTUP_WAIT_TIME_LISTENER = 0
CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 10
TRACE_LEVEL_LISTENER = OFF
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = EXTPROC)
(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\10.2)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
)
(SID_DESC =
(GLOBAL_DBNAME = amis)
(ORACLE_HOME = c:\oracle\product\10.2)
(SID_NAME = amis)
)
)

------------------------------------------
my tnsnames.ora :

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = EXTPROC)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
)
)

--------------------------------
I've been trying to find a solution for it all over the net, but all I could find did not work.
I'm still getting the same message.

Please help

Have you been through Metalink note 70638.1 - Troubleshooting ORA-28585 Errors?

You might want look at note which talks you through the setup of Extproc

Tnx JRowbottom ,
It works now

The thing that did it is making a separate listener as described in metalink note.

************************************

To properly configure a separate listener for external procedures:

a. Decide on a name for the new listener (callout_listener in the examples that follow). This name appears in several places in the listener.ora file. Substitute the name you selected forcallout_listener in the examples that follow.

b. Modify the listener.ora file as follows:

i. Add the following entries:

callout_listener =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS =
(PROTOCOL = IPC)
(KEY = extproc_key)
)
)

sid_list_callout_listener =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = extproc_agent)
(ORACLE_HOME = oraclehomedir)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
)
)

where callout_listener is the name of the listener extproc_key agrees with the KEY in tnsnames.ora extproc_agent agrees with the SID in tnsnames.ora

I only have comwrap.sql.

So if someone has the files : wordsol.sql or worddem.sql ,
