What is the general idea? Why would you want to do that?

Is, perhaps, a single data block (which spans two canvases) an option?

Depending on a certain criteria, you may enable (or disable) items in your form. It can be done by using the SET_ITEM_PROPERTY built-in (research its use in Forms Online Help System). Pay attention to usage notes of the ENABLED property (as setting it to back to TRUE won't be enough to make an item "enabled").
