Is your patch for XE?

If your inventory is corrupted, deinstall and reinstall Oracle.

Where did you get the patch?
Go to Metalink and see for which edition it is (if ever it is restricted to some editions).

No doubt that this will fail. And don't post in UPPER case.

Open a SR on Metalink.

"/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/orainventory/logs/installActions2008-08-06_01-11-21PM.log"
"/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/orainventory/logs/oraInstall2008-08-06_01-11-21PM.err"
"/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/orainventory/logs/oraInstall2008-08-06_01-11-21PM.out"
They are generated by the installer
