How to convert the data from clob to long ?

And if the requirement is that you jump off a bridge, do you do that, too?

Sometime the only solution is to tell the customer that the requirement makes no sense.

The requirement is NOT "convert a clob to a long". It's more than just that.
If the requirements state "jump into the lake", would you do so without questioning too?

Largely because we get tired of answering the same old questions asked by people who can't be bothered to fill in the blanks in their questions with the information that we ask for that would let us actually help them.

I really don't think I am being rude or anything. I just want you to think yourself, instead just following orders. Part of your work as a developer is evaluating the analysis and questioning doubtful parts.
If you tell the analyst that LONGs are obsolete and ask him why you need this conversion, he might even be thankful.
But hey, don't mind me. Just trying to help you.
