Hi all,

I am wondering if there is a way to describe the tablename in alphabetical order. We have about 50 columns in few tables and the developers would like to view the table description in alphabetical order using some sort may be. Or is there any tool that could do this??

THanks for your help.

you can use notepad, wordpad or any other editor to write the desired function

All that is missing is some required critical thinking

DESC is functionnaly just a query on all_tab_columns, you can do the same and sort the result as you want.

the developers would like to view the table description in alphabetical order using some sort may be.

Why not give them access to the database? That way they can view the structure any way they want.

if you want to get fancy, use sql from sql. Single most important tool for an oracle developer I think (beside basic ability to think).

select 'desc '||table_name
from user_tables
order by 1
/

Good luck, Kevin
