Hi Guys,

I have a small application created in Oracle forms 6i. I installed Forms 10g and I tried running the application.

The application opens in the browser. However, the problem is that it opens within a small applet and only a portion of the Form is visible. Not the whole form. Can somebody help!!!

Thanks,
Rahul

Hi,

I have created a small application in Forms 6i and now am trying to run it in 10g. It opens up proper and executes properly. However, there is one problem, the color of the form!

In the formsweb.cfg, the color is Teal. And the whole form looks part teal, some places the Gray, some text items have background color gray.. It looks patchy and not so appealing. Now,

1. Is it possible to have the whole form Gray color like is was in 6i?
2. I tried, Gray option in formsweb.cfg. But no luck, We can use Blue, red. but not Gray- strange!

Thanks,
Rahul

We had some similar problem few years ago when migrating from 6i to 10g. We also notice that the web application is using some windows setting for the color in the registry of the computer. I don`t know if you have the same problem, but here are some setting we changed to make our 10g application same look than 6i
Those setting are for WinXP.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]
"ActiveBorder"="212 208 200"
"ButtonFace"="212 208 200"
"ButtonLight"="185 185 175"
"InactiveBorder"="212 208 200"
"Menu"="212 208 200"
"Scrollbar"="212 208 200"
"MenuBar"="212 208 200"
"GrayText"="128 128 128"

On changing those setting you need to log off and log back on for change to take effect. Note that those setting will also affect your windows environment

Thanks for the response. However, I just checked my Registry settings for the mentioned values and they are more or less the same that you have except for one or two. So, I guess thats not the problem. Now, I had two more questions,

1. Are your forms in 10G exactly the same as forms 6i , meaning full gray without any discolorations/patchy?
2. Is it not possible to run 10G forms directly on our laptop as a form like 6i instead of it having to open up in a web browser? Is that option not available?

Thanks,
Rahul

1- Yes our 10g application have same gray color than our old 6i apps, since it was a user request to not change the appearance of the application when migrating to 10g

2- In 10g you can`t run a form in Client/server like 6i. However you can run it locally on your laptop if you have your 10g developpement tools installed on it. You only need to start your OC4J instance and run your form from form builder if you need. (Note that you may have to make some setting in formsweb.cfg file locate on your computer)

Thanks Kaeluan for taking the time out for providing information.

Well, I was able to find the solution. The "Lookandfeel" option in formsweb.cfg was by default set to "Oracle". I saw in an example below that there was something called "Generic". I changed the parameter to Generic from Oracle and, the form opened exactly like it were in Forms6i.

Now, I had two more questions,

1. the icons no longer show up. I understand that 10g only supports gif/jpgs. so just converting them to jpg/gifs would solve the problem? or do I need to do something else.

2. I have chosen the option to open the form in a seperate window rather than inside the browser. But the main window FORMS MDI has a "window" option in the menu although I have not chosen/attached any menu to my form. But still the mdi window has a menu with "Window" in it. How can that be removed.?

Thanks,
Rahul

My name is 'David'. It is the name that I place at the end of all of my posts.

Concerning 'icons', please search this forum for 'icon' and 'jar'. It would appear that they need to be placed into a jar file to be available do display.

I don't understand your problem with the 'mdi' window. Please place an image of your current situation into your reply. PLEASE make the image a 'jpg' of 256 colours.

David
