Did you verify that the case name of the database is the same? How did you do the backup/restore?

Remove any redo logs you may have copied.

Hi,
I dont copy redolog. Only I create a database with dbca, so it create relogs. The backup no copy redolog with RMAN. Only datafiles. I cannot startup instance.

Do you want that I remove the redologs?

Why?

Explain me, please!

I'm not following what you are describing. What did you copy to the new host? Did you create a database on the new host with dbca?

You should only need the backupsets to do the restore/recovery. That being said, I can't give specifics without knowing specifics (ie. what backup script did you use, how did you set the ORACLE_SID on the new host, what files did you copy to the new host, etc.).

Hi,

info:

old_host = oradds new_hot=oradds

backup old_host = RMAN>backup database plus archivelog;

autobackup controlfiles = on

I has copied the backupset from old_host to newhost.

I created new database on new host with dbca, same name of old_host: oradds.

And restore/recovery with RMAN.

You don't need to create a new database prior to restore/recovering with RMAN.

Follow Restore and Recovery of the Database on a New Host for the complete process.

Well if it works, then why did you post the problem ?? If you got it to work, then please show me !!

Sure you can create "A" database with dbca, but the database you create from dbca is different than your original database.

Hi,

My database of developing crash during apply patch set 10.2.0.3. So, I had other host in my network. I was trying to restore the backup RMAN from developing in this new host. But, not worked, because I always create a new database after restore. I got error.

RMAN-03002: failure of recover command at 07/25/2008 09:18:30
ORA-19698: /dados/u01/oradata/oradds/redo01.log is from different database: id=2008663855, db_name=ORADDS

I used to create a new database with dbca before to restore with rman in my new host.

When you said that not is necessary I trying and work.

The same steps, but without create a new instance before.

thanks,

Marcos

hi,

I have other problem.

My restore and recovery is Ok, I dont create a database before restore with dbca. For this, a dbconsole not is create together. It is necessary create it separately.

$<ORACLE_HOME>bin/emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create

But, I cannot access through entreprise manager. I get error in logon: user/password invalid.

I use:
http://host_server:1158/em

I try drop and create the repository, drop user SYSMAN and recreate, but no work out.

Any reference at other host exist in dbconsole.

Through sql*plus I connect with User SYS and Pass but over enterpeise manager I cannot, with same user.
