Hi,

HP-UX 11I
Oracle 10g Rel2 Database

My database one of a instance ABCD2 re-started automatically and altert*.log file throws following details.

*Shutting down instance (aboart)
licence high water mark=343
Instance terminated by user , pid=27875 ....@23:34:35 time

and next

starting oracle instance (normal).......@23:34:51 time

My Question is :

1.Why my ABCD2 second instance stopped and started automatically, I checked the network,OCR,RAC activities everything seems normal.

I appreciate your valuable experienced advice.

Have a wonderful day ///// Cheez

If everything is normal, then this did not happen.

More seriously, how could we help you with the information you gave.
Check other messages in alert.log, trace files, OS/rman jobs and so on.

Regards
Michel

Hi Michel,

Thanks for your quick reply, Please find an enclosed file of database alert.log for that particular instance, OS is ok , rman is not configured since 2yrs database works fine without rman. But yesterday only i faced this problem first time.

You have to investigate who is/was pid 27875 and what it was doing, most likely it is a "startup force".

It is likely no more there.
You have to search in all the programs, scripts, cron jobs and so on which one does a "startup force".
