i got 10 items which were set not to allow update and insert so that the text item will not be modified. what i want to know if i could pass the built-in function SET_ITEM_PROPERTY into a variable and how will i declare it so the item will be able to allow update and insert?

Since you already mention set_item_property, I suppose that you have an idea on how to do it.
Why don't you tell us how YOU think it should be done? Show/Tell us what you tried so far and how it failed to fulfill your requirements.
OraFAQ is meant to help people code, not to whisper the answer to every question in one's ears.. Trust me, if you go and try for yourself you will learn SO much more then when we just tell you. It will make you a better developer.
