Hi,

On the production server the listener was down automatically. I don't find the reason to down the listner.
There was no problem for listener before on the production.

Please find the listber.log on the production server.

What is reason to down the listener?
Or do i need to look into other part?

Please suggest me.

Thanks,

More information:

I started listener on 03-JUL-2008 16:20:30.
And from 03-JUL-2008 15:31:48 the listener was not available.

During down time of the listener i was able to connect to oracle on server but not from client end.
I tried to start the listener but it was not getting started i dont know why it was not started.

But after 10 minutes my command works and listner starts.
i.e. lsnrctl start

I posted listener.log file in my previous post during the down time.

Thanks,

When you did a START command from LSNRCTRL, what exactly happened?

Thanks for reply.
Actually i used command,

:=>lsnrctl start

But just the blank screen for more than 5 minuts no error or no reply.
So i terminate the comand with Ctrl+Z and again executed the same command and it works.

Please tell me if any other information is required.

1. Can you judge with listener.log file what was the problem.
2. Any other place to look for the problem?

Thanks,

your system is a windows system.
maybe you can lookup "event manager" for more information.
-----
if possible ,you can migrate the database to linux system.

A Windows client can connect to Linux Oracle DB server.

Because that is the CLIENT program that connected to the listener. And there might very well be Windows clients using the database.

Two possible reasons for the problem :

- Bug Number 4518443
- Have you changed the IP of the server?

Hi there !

please try to restart all your oracle services ,and startup your database with restrict command .some time a production databases force the bug to be occered ,I strongly hope it will be solution of this problem ,If not it will be faced by you in future and then you will have to tune new port for your listner,or listner for database
Regards,
Malik

Thanks all for your replies.

As a workaround, two steps should be done:

1. The following parameter can be added to listener.ora

For example, if the listener name is LISTENER (default), the parameter would be:

SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER=OFF

2. Locate the ons.config file in the 10g(rdbms) home and rename it to something else.
For example:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf
mv ons.config ons.config.orig

The listener needs to be restarted after these changes.

If i will follow the previous solution then one question in my mind is that where exactly i can put SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER=OFF in listener.ora?

# listener.ora Network Configuration File: E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_2\network\admin\listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
  (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
      (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
      (ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_2)
      (PROGRAM = extproc)
    )
  )

LISTENER =
  (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS_LIST =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = test1.com)(PORT = 1521))
      )
    )
  )

It doesn't matter. I would just append it to the file.
