Wrote file afiedt.buf

  1  create table sales
  2  (invoice_no number,
  3  sale_year int not null,
  4  sale_month int not null,
  5  sale_day int not null)
  6  partition by range (sale_year,sale_month,sale_day)
  7  (partition sales_q1 values less than (1999,04,01)
  8  partition sales_q1 values less than (1999,07,01)
  9  partition sales_q1 values less than (1999,10,01)
 10* partition sales_q1 values less than (2001,01,01));
SQL> /
partition sales_q1 values less than (1999,07,01)

ERROR at line 8:
ORA-14020: this physical attribute may not be specified for a table partition

In addition, why naming the partition if you give the same name (which is not possible)?

It is also my opinion that separating out month, day and year instead of using a DATE column is a bad idea and an almost guarantee of headaches.

such as totally invalid dates; like month > 12, day > 31, etc.
