Hello all Gurus,
I have a dmp file in 8i . and now i want to upgrade my version form 8i to 10G
How to import that data from 8i to 10G. Is it directly possible
by import utility in toad 7.6 .Or it will Give 1 problem Of version Conflict.

It is very urgent.

Create a 10g database and use imp.

But i want to know Will it give me any error regarding the version.if i use toad 7.4 and import it.Is is possible.

I don't use TOAD, I use Oracle basic tools and imp will not return any return regarding version.

HI there!

U may try its alternate to do so, I mean create 10g database then export your 8i database data to concerning that.keep in mind dont try to use advance techniques regarding it.u simply use exp utility and follow the prompt by tool;

On topic: export your existing Oracle database using 8i EXP utility version; then import it into 10g using 10g IMP import utility.

Or, generally speaking:
- export: use lowest database version EXP utility involved in this operation
- import: use IMP utility of the target database
