reading huge text file by utl_file [message #2886]

I am trying to read a huge text file. The output file I get in a notepad goes max upto 30kb.(250 records) I changed datatype to Long but same result. I tried clob but gets synthax error . I have to read more than 50,000 records.
Need answer urgenty.
