sounds like you need to upgrade your ODBC drivers.

Hey

Long time ago, but i try it.
I have an old application in VB6 and we also move to 10.2

And now i have the same problem. Did you find any solution on this or did you migrate your code to .NET...

Thx

Matze

Matthias, what ODBC drivers do you use?

Ok i tried them all:

1. Microsoft ODBC for Oracle (MDAC 2.8 SP4)
2. Oracle Driver 10.2...
3. Crystal Reports Driver

I also tried to open the recordset with a table without any lob fields. The same result. I can always open the connection but never open the recordset.

Thx for reply

Did you check MSDN for Oracle connectivity? I see quite some code samples there. At Oracle's website there are also examples for VB/OLEDB/ODBC.

Oh, I thought VB6 was desupported years ago. Isn't the entire MS development collection ".NET" now?

Does this code help?

Abhishake,

I am using the same provider 'MSDAORA.1' and I got the same error when I converted a table field from 'Long Raw' type to 'BLOB'. The DBA guys said, 'BLOB' is the newer, preferable datatype for storing binary large objects. I suspect though, since I received this error, MSDAORA.1 doesn't support 'BLOB' types since they are newer. I may be converting back if I can't find a fix for this. You might try converting your datatype to 'Long Raw' as a temporary workaround for your problem...

Regards,

Len

I sincerely hope the original poster is not still waiting for a solution, let alone a temporary solution!
